well here is some more of the picture book, so far… dare i say it? … i am kinda happy with these images. they are by no means exactly how i want them to look but i am trying to curb the amount of time i spend on each image in the hopes of possibly finishing the whole book before the end of uni- which a week ago seemed completly unachievable, but now i think hmmm maybe?

o and turns out i am too old to be a ballerina! darn it! but i shall keep it up- i paid for another 5 weeks of prancing about forgeting what to do with my little twinkle toes!

In me, my work on February 23, 2010 at 10:13 amwell i have been working hard on the picture book i posted about yesterday, but for a little break i worked on another quick editorial image for an article in the Guardian about four generations all living under the same roof, it was very very quick but i wanted to experiment with using printed texture with pencil texture, i originally thought this would be too complicated but it think it works.
in other news tonight will see me, a grown 26 year old attempt to go to beginners ballet. i think i am too old to become a ballerina- but should be fun and hopefully help the old posture, which is a bit crumpled due to being hunched over my desk for like 12 hours a day.
wish me luck!
picture book stuff
In childrens book, digital image, me, my dog on February 22, 2010 at 10:50 amfor the past few months- since september actually- i have been developing a picture book. i think that is the loosest term for it really as it was initially a childrens book now its just a story in pictures, kids or no kids. Its a story about a mean grumpy old lady and her interaction with her neighbours, its all written in ryhme for some reason?

a few weeks ago we had an ace masterclass with illustrator Chris Long, his work is at chrislongstudio.com. He set us all a really fun day project of working on an editorial- which i have never actually done before. Boy o boy it was tricky. i started off being way too literal with my story which was “how to win an eating contest” and Chris was super creative and encouraging. So i started with this idea of just drawing someone winning an eating contest- YAWN! and then developed this idea of someone competing with the food, not other people. This seemed more fun to me and i was happy to have developed the idea more than i ordinarily would have done!
